The slurry itself is actually what makes hydroseeding so effective, as it covers the area with a green mat of hydromulch. Because hydromulch retains 10 to 15 times its weight in water, it is able to keep grass seeds hydrated and ensure that they come up fast and full. This hydromulch also reduces the ability of wind, rain, birds and animals to carry away the seeds and fertilizer and helps maintain soil temperature, protecting seeds from extreme temperatures.
